Dear Beloved,

Greetings, we are now in the Philippines for a 2 months visit to the churches. We arrived here September 2 and we will go back on November 2,2011. We came upon invitation to 4 Missions Conferences  and Revival Meetings. We RE-NEWED the passports of Grace and Gaius as well.  We also visited some new churches  and some supporting churches.

For the months of July and August we had been blessed to have 57 saved  and 16 Baptized in Kampong Cham. I will send you all reports for our  other churches next mail.
We had Vacation Bible School this last August with 49 in attendance  and 28 got saved! We were able to open a new area in Hungary Road with  30 teenagers coming for the month of August.
We were having visitation and Soul Winning last July and I met Mr. Chouern WENG. A Buddhist who became a mormon  and God gripped his heart through the Word of God as we talked and he received the Lord Jesus. Now he is faithfully coming to church and helps us drive the church van. He is 46 years old, please pray that his wife will get saved!

On the first Sunday of August God allowed me to preach at the Missions Sunday of First Baptist Church of Nawong and Pathumthani in Bangkok, Thailand. Now they are supporting  local and foreign missions, Glory to God!
Our English and primary Schools continues to go on. We were able to visit the National Prison in Kampong Cham again and this time we talked with Warden Kea Sovana. He is asking us to come in and teach moral values, Amen!
Our Medical  and cancer check up went well. The only problem is high cholesterol and I still need to see my Nephrologist.
God has used us here for the furtherance of the Gospel  as we saw souls saved and in challenging churches for MISSIONS and Christians surrender for the Lord‘s Work.  We hope to raise funds for the ministries in Cambodia and as well us our family funds is depleted. We believe that God will provide as we live by faith and not by sight.

[NEWS] July 19, 2011 Newsletter

Dear Beloved,

It is good for me that I had been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. Psalm 119:71

I start this letter with our bereavement due to the passing away into Glory of my older “big brother” Pastor Merlo Joy Dela Cruz of Bible Baptist Church Victorias City – Philippines. I was called up late on June 24th in the evening and was told to pray for him for he was hospitalized. My cousin called me at 5 AM the next morning ( June 25th) and she told me that your “big brother” is gone with the Lord. It was hard for me for we were close. He was just 47 years old, just a year and a half older than me. He was an active partner and supporter of World Missions.

We had Missions Conference in Dangkao that day and the 12th Church Anniversary the next day. But I composed myself and preached in the conference that evening in Dangkao. We had a great conference and it was climaxed by the preaching of DR Bob Bowen. God blessed it with 4 saved that weekend.

Grace and I left our sons with Ms. Glojem Minada for we cannot afford to buy tickets for them to go with us to the Philippines. We got there Wednesday noon, June 29th and preached that night where my brother’s body lie in front of me. We thank God for all the friends, family, pastors and missionaries, local officials and relatives that came to show their love and sympathy, it was also a great reunion for those we have not seen for a very long time. There were 76 pastors that attended the Funeral Services on July 7th, over 1,400 people came to attend, my Pastor DR Armie F. Jesalva delivered the message and there were 15 souls that got saved. Then we took my brother’s body and laid it to rest together with our parents at Heaven’s Gate Park in Manapla, our home town.

I covet your prayers for my sister-in law, Elsa, my brother’s children and Bible Baptist Church of Victorias as they all continue to fulfill God’s mandate. God is nearer when we are tested and faith that cannot be tested, cannot be trusted.

We then went to Cebu to visit my wife’s ailing mother. I got to preach on Sunday, July 10, at Mactan Independent Baptist Church where God blessed us with 8 souls saved! That evening and the next morning we attended the 2nd World Missions Conference at World In need Baptist Church in Mandaue City.

We got back here in Kampong Cham last Thursday, July 14, my wife’s birthday. So sorry that my letter is late due to the viruses that spoiled my computer.

June was a blessed month for us here in the field though.
I praise God for the 21 visitors that came to our services here in kampong Cham and the 12 souls that got saved! and we had an average attendance of 51 attendance
we had 7 fathers that came to our Fathers’ Sunday, 5 were first time visitors and Glory to God one of them got saved, his name is Somnang, he is a tailor. I thank God for my wife and kids that are very active in the ministry.
We had our kids festival , June 19 and we had 57 that came, 8 of them are First time visitors too. I preached to them from Mathew 10:27.... "the shepherd says come
Praise God for the great special service last June 21 in Bang Keng Kang, praise God for the 7 souls that got saved and the edification of the saints.

Back in Kampong Cham this evening, had Mid week service June 22, Dr Bosje and Bro. Arold sang , Dr Bowen preached. we had a good service, there were 33 that attended, 17 were visitors. Glory to God!

It is a blessing to receive support from our Church in Treng Trayueng led by Pastor Meas Phirun and they also support foreign missions.

God is in control of our lives and the ministry. We are grateful for you love, prayers and support.

Prayer requests:

1. More Bible Study openings here in the city.

2. Growth of new Believers

3. Baptismal Candidates

Dear Beloved,

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

( Philippians 1:6 )

God has begun is us all and we thank you for your prayers and support for the ministry here in Kampong Cham and our other ministries which we continue to be a part of here in Cambodia.

God allowed us to have the following for the last 2 months:

Focus:

We concentrate on the city of Kampong Cham and Kampong Siem district and spent more time with the people and kids that God has given us to minister. God gave 4 ladies in our neighborhood for my wife to teach the Bible once a week in their homes. We have 4 areas that we minister to located in the western part of the city namely : Hungary Road, Bang Kuk, Bang Snai and Rongchak ( Kampong Siem district ). So far God has given us 2 factory workers ( Sena and Rey Nou ) and Chandy , a high school student. I have 1 Bible Study in Bang Kuk every Friday afternoon. We have an average attendance of 45 in the morning and 50 in the afternoon every Sunday for the past 2 months and God gave us 68 saved for the 2 months as well! Praise God!

April: Mao died , he was my first adult convert 14 years ago. He was buried in his home in Prey Veng, he is survived by his wife and 2 sons and 3 daughters who are all serving God.

We had film showing in Bang Kuk and we had 35 souls saved.

My sons Gershom ( 11 ) and Gaius ( 10 ) spent their birthdays with the kids on 2 occasions here and we had a blast.

It was also a blessing to have 5 young people from our home church come and visit us.

May: Pastor Phirun (of Treng Trayueng Baptist Church in road 4) and Sister Thavin had their engagement ceremony last May 6. It was my honor to officiate the program. There were over 50 people that came.

We had 5 that came to our Mothers’ Day here in Kampong Cham.

Sports festival. We had 4 days of holidays and we spent 2 days for our Youth. We had fun games at church and we had 99 that came of May 13. Prasie God for those 19 that got saved! On the second day we had soccer games 112 came to attend at the City Sports Complex.

We visited the Tropeng Phlong National Correctional Prison 3 near the border of Kampong Cham and Vietnam. I gave out 400 Booklets of “Do you know God?” and some 3 Bibles. It was a blessing to share the Gospel to the inmates. There were over 20 that made professions of faith. One guy named pheap was sentenced to 12 years and now he has 3 yers more to go. He said “pastor when I get my freedom I will serve God with you”. Amen!

God blessed us with 150,000 gospel tracts, 5,600 booklets , 2 boxes of Bibles and we were also able to get our old trailer traded with a new one. We placed our old stainless steel baptistery on it, we are very excited to use it for baptism this month.

I thank God for Brother Reaksmai is a polio victim, 30 years old who is my partner. He was a monk for 10 years but God saved him and he has given his life to serve God. He visits, wins souls, pass out tracts, invites, cleans the church and teach Sunday School. But He can do more and go further if he has a 3 wheeled vehicle. Right now he pedals a bicycle, but falls most often and gets himself bruised. Together with Bro. Reaksmai , we have passed out 5,000 tracts for 2 months now.

Prayer requests:

1. More Bible Study openings here in the city.

2. Growth of new Believers

3. Baptismal Candidates

4. Evangelistic Youth Program on June 18 at 3:00 PM

5. Young people will surrender their lives to serve God

6. Vacation Bible School preparations

8. Workers and teachers to help us reach kampong Cham for Christ.

9. “ Three Wheeler” motor bike for Reaksmai ( $1,500)

Thank you so much for your prayers and support.

April 3, 2011

Dear Beloved,

We prayed for an opening in Chup and last Friday we went early in the morning and asked God for Guidance. We ( Rithy, Somnang, Reaksmey and myself) went inside Chumbak village and there we talked with the Village Chief, he allowed us to teach the Bible in his village. Now we need to pray for a family that will open their home for the ministry to begin this next Friday.

We went to the other side of the village and there we passed through the grave yard, there were people dressing up the graves, burning incense and eating their food as a family, some had tents set up, it is Cheng Ming festival for the Chinese folks here too. We talked with village folks and asked if there had been some Christians that passed out tracts and the answer was “never had”.. We drank some sugarcane juice and I tried to talk to Phearum whom was the brother of the vendor, he listened but at the end he would not decide to accept the Lord Jesus yet. We passed out more Gospel tracts, then, we stopped under the shade of the rubber plantation and there we rested and ate our lunch.

It was 2 PM when we reached Suong, we rested for some time and then I called my team as we have to finish the 28th lesson on Soul Winning there were 4 other Young People from Suong that attended.

At 4 PM we had juniors classes there and praise God, 12 of those new comers got saved at the end of the Bible Study.

Today we had a total attendance of 88 in our Sunday Services, we had 18 new comers. My wife had the Juniors Class in the afternoon, she presented the Gospel and we had some that asked questions. We hope these people will come back next week and get saved. At 5 Pm we went to the riverside and passed our 100 gospel tracts.

Praise God for the prayers and the Victory this weekend. May God bless us all as we claim the Victory this week ahead of us as well.

Yours for Spiritual Liberty,

Bro. Lomer Hope

[NEWS] February 3, 2011 Report

Dear Beloved,

The New Year and the New Ministry here in Kampong Cham is very blessed. We have labeled January as the month of Victory.

We had our first Sunday of the year with 41 in attendance and 3 saved. January 7th was Cambodia’s Victory Day Celebration (liberation from Pol Pot’s regime). On the same day, we had our Victory Day celebration in Kampong Cham. We had 78 in attendance and 28 got saved. We had Pastor Conui and family that visited us, they played the violin and sang, Pastor Conui gave a message after we showed the “Jesus Film” in the Cambodian Language.

We had an average of 35 attendance for the month of January here in Kampong Cham. Please pray as we disciple and teach these folks. We hope to baptize them soon.

We started an extension church in Soung City. We had been going there for 3 weeks now. Because of those 26 folks that came to our Christmas program last time, they got saved and now we are doing follow up and Home Bible study there. Please pray that Preacher Rithy can have a motorbike that he can use to go there every week.

This January, we found a property for the church here in Kampong Cham. We go there every day and claim it from God. Please pray for it.

The ministries in Phnom Penh and Road 4 are thriving. I will update you later about them.

On January 20-22, I brought Pastor Bunthoun (of LBBC Thnuel Tutueng) and Pastor Phirun (of LBBC Treyng Treyeung) to Bangkok. There we attended the Preaching Conference of First Baptist Church. It was a blessing to hear Dr. Jack Schaap preach at the end of the 1-day conference. Both of the preachers I brought were blessed. It was their first time to cross the border. We hope that our Cambodian preachers would develop a burden for their Thai neighbors as well.

Thank you for your prayers.

Yours for souls,

Lomer Hope dela Cruz

January 03, 2011

Dear Beloved Pastor and Church,

Happy New Year to one and all!!!   God has orchestrated to make things HAPPEN  this last quarter of 2010. We want to glorify  and thank Him.  Thank you for all your prayers and support. Thank you for your part in us all.

Evangelism:  Through Personal Soul Winning and door to door visitation, making new contacts and new friends through sports activities like soccer and volleyball,  God gave us a total souls saved of 422. In Prey Nup we had 2 nights Revival meetings  last October 25-26 and 271 came to attend with 34 came forward to be saved.

Baptism:  In Prey Nup 6 were baptized and in Phnom Penh 8  were added to the church.

Church Anniversary and Building Dedication:  Pastor Phirun in Treng Trayueng was happy to use the new church building that could seat 250 during the 5th anniversary. We dedicated the new building on November 7 with a total attendance of 240 and 19 made professions of faith.  Now we have to work hard to fill up the new building.

Indochina Bible Institute:  Our church based  “roaming” Bible School continues to train young men and ladies. Last November 7 we graduated Bro. Chan Rottanak and Bro. Tong Borin. We also gave Christian Life Certificates to Bro. Rithy, Bro. Hul, Sister Thavana and Sister Thavin  as they  have finished the  1st year curriculum.

Primary Schools:  With our limited space and teachers we had to stop enrolling new comers. In Prey Nup we have 22 students and in Treng Trayueng we have 43 students as of year end. We need more teachers and helpers.

Family:  October 8 -11, we went to Bangkok for my annual cancer check up.  All were negative results. But I have to take anti-hypertension drugs to protect my kidneys. Grace had her blood chemistry  checked too and all was well and so are the boys. Just pray that God will heal Grace’s perforated left ear drum. Penny is praying to go for another year of studies so that she can have Double Majors in Music Performance  and Information Technology.

Endorsement and Move:  Since  December 2007 we had been praying to plant a church in Kampong Cham City. It is the gateway to the north-east, 124 kilometers along highway 7,  north of Phnom Penh towards Vietnam and southern Laos. Kampong Cham city  has a population of over 110,000 And the whole province has a population of 2 million people. There were NO Baptist Missionaries in the whole province until we went.  This province is also the strong hold of the Muslim Community. Therefore on November 25, I endorsed all the churches and mission ministries along national route 4 to the Cambodian national Pastors.  Pastor Ngeoun Sitha helps supervise.

December 1st  we moved to Kampong Cham city.  Brothers Rithy and Somnang and Sister Thoun came with us to form  TEAM Kampong Cham.  We are renting a $500 per month house church just at the back of the provincial capitol  and Military base.  For the last 5 weeks we had an average attendance of 36. December 26, 4:00 PM we had our Christmas program with 73 in attendance  and 48 souls were saved. People came from Soung City as well.

This new year our theme is “We will SHARPEN our Soul winning, Home Bible StudiesActivities for Edification and fellowship, Revival Fires,Personal Growth and mentoring, Equipping the saints and Nation building in 2011.”

Please pray for our needs :
  • 1 Sound System and speakers
  • 40 chairs
  • 25 song books
  • 50 Bibles
  • 10,000 Cambodian Gospel tracts
  • 2 motorbikes for 2 preachers
  • 5 tables for the Bible Institute.
